19 May 2026 – LAKMNS will continue the organization of the Maal Hijrah Festival 1448H/2026M (FMH), scheduled to take place from 12 to 21 June 2026 at the Taman Sukma Multipurpose Hall, which will serve as the main venue for the festival.
This annual festival is held in conjunction with the celebration of the Islamic New Year 1448H, with the objective of promoting the values of Hijrah (migration and positive transformation), strengthening community unity, and bringing the mosque institution closer to the community through a more relaxed, open, and inclusive approach. The festival will feature a wide range of spiritual, educational, mosque enrichment, community, sports, and recreational activities aimed at all segments of society, including children, youth, Muslim women, and families.
Among the key programmes to be held are the End-of-Year and Beginning-of-Year Thanksgiving and Prayer Ceremony, Quran Recitation Competition (Tilawah al-Quran), Berzanji and Marhaban Competition, and the Love for the Prophet Night (Malam Cinta Rasul). In addition, various recreational and community activities will be organised, including badminton, pickleball, e-sports, and other family-oriented activities designed to encourage broad public participation.
The festival also provides opportunities for local entrepreneurs and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) through the provision of exhibition booths and commercial activities, serving as a platform to promote their products and services. The organisation of the festival receives strategic cooperation from the Majlis Islam Sarawak, Dewan Bandaraya Kuching Utara (DBKU), and Jabatan Kemajuan Islam Malaysia (JAKIM). The festival’s main sponsors include Sarawak Plantation Berhad, Senari Synergy, BMASJ Timber Sdn. Bhd., and Lubuk Tiara Sdn. Bhd.
A symbolic official flag-raising ceremony for the Maal Hijrah Festival will also be held on 14 June 2026 in collaboration with DBKU as part of the Car Free Morning Programme. The Closing Ceremony of the Maal Hijrah Festival is scheduled to take place on 21 June 2026 at the Taman Sukma Multipurpose Hall.
One of the major attractions of the event will be the presentation of lucky draw prizes to visitors, including Umrah packages and two motorcycles.
