Marhaban Competition Marks Maulidur Rasul 1448H Celebration in Sarawak

The Lembaga Amanah Kebajikan Masjid Negeri Sarawak (LAKMNS), in collaboration with the Majlis Islam Sarawak, Lembaga Amanah Kebajikan Islam Sarikei (LAKISRI), and the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) Sarawak Branch, organised the Marhaban Competition in conjunction with the Maulidur Rasul 1448H/2026M celebration.

The Lembaga Amanah Kebajikan Masjid Negeri Sarawak (LAKMNS), in collaboration with the Majlis Islam Sarawak, Lembaga Amanah Kebajikan Islam Sarikei (LAKISRI), and the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) Sarawak Branch, organised the Marhaban Competition in conjunction with the Maulidur Rasul 1448H/2026M celebration.

The competition, held at Dewan Masjid al-Muttaqin, Sarikei, saw the participation of 20 marhaban groups representing mosques and surau from across Sarawak.

A closing ceremony was held that evening and officiated by the Deputy Minister for Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment of Sarawak, YB Datuk Haji Len Talif Salleh. He is also the State Assemblyman for N.41 Kuala Rajang and Chairman of LAKISRI. During the ceremony, he presented prizes to the winners.

For the men’s category, Kumpulan Suara Seni from Surau Majma, Kuching emerged as the overall champion. Kumpulan Suara al-Hamra from Balai Bomba Petra Jaya secured second place, while Kumpulan al-Muhasibin from Surau al-Muhasin, Astana Lot, Petra Jaya finished third.

In the women’s category, Kumpulan Aura Darisya from Surau Bumiputera, Kampung Sambir, Kota Samarahan emerged as champion. The group was also announced as the highest-scoring group overall in the competition.

Second place in the women’s category went to Kumpulan An Nur Bisahri from Surau Darul Ehsan, Kampung Baka Semong, Kota Samarahan, while Kumpulan Sinar Muslimah from Kampung Jemukan, Sadong Jaya took third place.

Also present at the ceremony were YB Dato Ir. Haji Yusuf bin Haji Abd Wahab, Member of Parliament for Tanjung Manis and Deputy Chairman of LAKISRI, and YBhg. Datu Haji Abdul Hadi bin Datuk Haji Abdul Kadir, Chief Executive Officer of LAKMNS.
