On 5 October 2026, the Psychology and Counselling Unit, Human Resource Management Division, organised the Opening Ceremony of the LAKMNS Counselling Month and World Mental Health Day Celebration 2026 at the Gallery Room, Baitul Makmur II.

The opening ceremony was officiated by Yang Berbahagia Datu Haji Abdul Hadi bin Datuk Haji Abdul Kadir, Chief Executive Officer of LAKMNS. Also present were Mr Mohamad Feisal bin Said, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of LAKMNS, together with LAKMNS Chief Officers and Division Heads, as well as the invited speaker, Dr Alizi bin Alias, Organisational Psychology Consultant.

As a symbolic launch, Yang Berbahagia Datu performed the launch gimmick by placing a mobile phone replica on the designated launch platform, in line with the 2026 National Counselling Month theme, “Digital Era Counselling: Driving Well-being.” The mobile phone replica symbolised the role of digital technology in expanding access to counselling services and enabling the public to obtain psychological support in a more flexible, timely and effective manner.

The ceremony also featured the presentation of a token of appreciation to Dr Alizi bin Alias, Organisational Psychology Consultant, in recognition of his presence as the invited speaker.

This year's celebration highlights the message “Lived Experiences Heard: Real Voices, Real Change,” emphasising the importance of listening to, understanding and supporting the experiences and challenges faced by every individual.

Mental health is not merely about how we cope with stress, but also about how we create an environment where individuals feel safe to speak up, seek help and know that they are not alone when facing challenges.

May this celebration serve as a step towards fostering a culture of awareness that seeking support when facing challenges is not a sign of weakness. Instead, it is an act of courage in caring for oneself and one's well-being. Sometimes, what a person needs is not a perfect answer, but someone who is willing to listen and understand.

When Experiences Are Heard, Change Begins.
